If you are looking for LMU furnished rentals in Westchester, the appeal is simple: less furniture to buy and move before your lease starts. The catch is that furnished can mean very different things from one listing to the next. This post covers the furnished listings with Westchester addresses currently posted on our Westchester listings page, what each listing states, and what to ask about the furniture itself.

LMU furnished rentals in Westchester: what's available now

One limit up front: our listings record whether a place is furnished, but not what the furniture is. We do not hold an inventory for any of these units, so every furniture detail below is a question to ask, not a promise.

Begin your search at Off-Campus Universe, where you can browse current listings near Westchester.

Here are five current furnished listings with Westchester addresses: 8037 Kenyon Ave at $1,100/month, a one-bed, one-bath listing; New airy sunny studio with private patio at $1,850/month, listed as an apartment with one bed and one bath; 8324 Barnsley Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90 at $3,995/month, a two-bed, one-bath duplex; 4 BR, 3 BA awesome college house at $6,000/month, a four-bed, three-bath listing; and Furnished 6BR/5BA House Near LMU — Pool, at $19,500/month, a six-bed, five-bath listing.

What the Westchester Furnished Listings Cover

The five listings span one-bed units up to a six-bed listing. At the smaller end, 8037 Kenyon Ave is listed at $1,100/month and the studio with a private patio at $1,850/month, both with one bed and one bath. In the middle, the Barnsley Avenue duplex has two beds and one bath at $3,995/month. At the larger end, the four-bed, three-bath listing is at $6,000/month and the six-bed, five-bath listing is at $19,500/month. None of the five is marked as rent by room, so ask each lister whether the price covers the whole unit.

Lease types differ too. Four of the five give their lease type as Year Lease (12 Months), while the Barnsley Avenue duplex lists its lease type as open to 6 months or a year lease. Distance by car is listed as under 5 minutes for Kenyon Ave, the studio and the 6BR/5BA listing, and as 5 - 10 minutes for the Barnsley Avenue duplex and the 4 BR, 3 BA house. Those are the listers' own figures, so check the route yourself if a short trip matters to you.

For the two largest listings, think about how a group would split the price. Neither is marked as rent by room, so the figure you see is the one to ask about first, and any per-person split is something your group works out with the lister once you know what the price covers.

Furnished tends to suit some situations better than others. If you are arriving from far away, staying for a set term, or would rather not buy furniture you will have to sell or store later, a furnished place can save effort. If you already own furniture, an unfurnished listing may suit you better, so it is worth weighing both before you narrow your search.

LMU Furnished Rentals in Westchester: What Furnished Actually Means

With LMU furnished rentals in Westchester, the word furnished on a listing tells you that some furniture comes with the unit, and nothing more. It can mean a fully set up home with beds, desks, sofas and kitchenware, or it can mean a bed frame and a couch. Because our listings do not record what is included, ask each lister for a written inventory before you sign, and check it against the unit when you move in.

Bedroom furniture is worth asking about separately. Some furnished rentals supply a bed frame but expect you to bring your own mattress, and some supply a mattress but no desk. If you study at home, ask specifically about a desk and chair in each bedroom. In a larger home, ask whether every bedroom is furnished the same way or whether some rooms have more than others, because that can become a sticking point when roommates split rent.

Kitchen and household items are the next question. Ask whether cookware, dishes, a microwave, bedding or towels are included, or whether furnished stops at the large pieces. It is easy to assume a furnished place is ready to live in on day one and then find you still need to buy most of the small things.

Then ask about care and liability. Find out whether the furniture is listed in the lease, who pays if something wears out or breaks, and whether you can store or remove pieces you do not need. A move-in condition report with dated photos of each item protects your deposit when the lease ends.

Use the tour to look at condition, not just presence. A sofa that is listed as included but badly worn is still something you may be blamed for at move-out if its condition is not recorded. Sit on the furniture, open the drawers, check the mattress if one is supplied, and note anything already damaged on the move-in report.

Furnished rent is only part of the monthly cost. The listings above give a price and a furnishing status, but not utilities, internet, parking or other fees. Ask each lister for the full monthly figure, and ask whether a furnished unit carries a higher deposit than an unfurnished one would.

Tips for Renting Furnished in Westchester

  • Ask for the furniture list in writing. A written inventory attached to the lease is the most reliable record of what was there at move-in.

  • Photograph everything on day one. Take dated photos of each piece of furniture and any existing wear, and send them to the landlord so there is a shared record.

  • Compare like with like. When weighing a furnished place against an unfurnished one, factor in what you would otherwise spend on furniture and on moving it, rather than comparing rent alone.

  • See the unit before you pay. Tour in person or by live video, read the full lease, and do not send a deposit until you have seen both.
