LMU rentals 5 to 10 minutes from campus: what a short drive gets you
If you want a place that is a short drive from class, this post looks at LMU rentals 5 to 10 minutes from campus on our Westchester board. Every listing below has a Distance by Car value of 5 - 10 minutes, which is the band the landlord picked for the drive to campus. That field is the only distance measure we hold. We do not have exact drive times, walk times or transit times for any listing, so we have not ranked these by distance, and we have not converted the band into miles. What we can show you is the range of places that fall in that band right now: their prices, sizes, lease terms and whether they come furnished.

What a Short Drive Gets You Around Westchester
Westchester is the Los Angeles neighborhood that surrounds the campus, just north of LAX, and our listings in the 5 to 10 minute band are spread across Westchester and nearby parts of Los Angeles and Inglewood, going by the addresses landlords entered. The five above give a sense of the range. At $1,480/month, The Meadows is the lowest price of the group, and at $6,000/month the 4-bedroom house is the highest. In between sit two 1-bedroom listings at $1,648/month and $2,200/month, and a rent-by-room house listing at $3,995/month. All five are furnished, which can save you the cost of buying furniture, though the Furnished field is a simple yes or no and does not list what is included. Lease shapes differ as well: four of the five are year leases, and the Naylor Avenue listing is listed as monthly with timing that runs to 5/31/27, which may suit someone who only needs housing through the spring. Only one of the five, the Stunning New 2-bedroom 2-Bathroom listing, is marked Rent by Room. For the others, ask the landlord whether the price is for the whole unit before you work out what each roommate would pay.
LMU Rentals 5 to 10 Minutes From Campus: How to Use the Distance Band
When you browse LMU rentals 5 to 10 minutes from campus, keep in mind what that label does and does not tell you. It is a band the landlord chose when creating the listing, not a timed route, and the real drive will depend on the exact address, the time of day and where on campus you are headed. A listing at the short end of the band and one at the long end look the same in this field. So use the band to narrow your search, then do your own check: enter the listing's address in a map app, set the departure time to when you would actually leave for class, and look at the result for both the morning and the evening trip. If you do not plan to drive, the band tells you even less. We do not hold walk, bike or bus times for any listing, so if you would rely on those, map the route yourself and ask the landlord how current tenants get to campus. Parking is another question to ask early. The listing fields we hold do not cover parking, so ask whether a space comes with the unit, whether there is a fee, and what street parking is like near the address.
It is also worth thinking about what you gain by looking slightly further out. Our board has listings in every distance band, from under 5 minutes to more than 15 minutes by car, and prices and sizes vary within each one. A listing in the 5 to 10 minute band is not automatically cheaper or more expensive than one closer in, so compare the specific listings you are considering rather than assuming that distance sets the price. If a short drive matters most to you, filter for the band first and then sort by price, size and lease length to find the best fit.
For any furnished listing, ask for a room-by-room list of what is included and recent photos, and record the condition of each item on your move-in checklist. For a lease shorter than a year, ask what happens at the end: whether you can renew, whether the rent changes, and how much notice you need to give. Ask which utilities, if any, are included in the rent and how internet is set up, since those details are not part of the listing fields we hold. And before you pay a deposit or application fee, read the full lease, make sure the dates and price match the listing, and keep a copy of every message you exchange with the landlord. Listings in this band change often, so if none of these five fits, check back for new ones.
Tips for Renting a Short Drive From Campus
Map each address yourself at your actual class times, since the Distance by Car field is a band rather than a timed route.
Ask about parking before you apply, because the listing fields we hold do not say whether a space is included.
Confirm whether the listed price is for one room or the whole unit, and get the answer in writing.
Check the lease timing against your academic year, especially on monthly or shorter leases.
